In 2003 Taizhou won stable development in agricultural production. Its gross agricultural-economic revenue amounted to RMB 226.9 billion, and its total output value in agriculture, forestry, husbandry and fishery RMB 16.777 billion. Restructuring farm production was continued in Taizhou. Its total crop seeded area of the whole year totaled 276.82 kilo-hectares, its grain seeded area 144.62 kilo-hectares and its gross grain output 0.757 million tons. |
| Meanwhile, its seeded area of non-grain commercial crops arrived at 132.21 kilo-hectares. |

| Agricultural Machinery - The requisites of agricultural production were improved continuously in Taizhou. Its year-end gross power in agricultural machinery amounted to 2.7997 million KW, and its annual consumed power 3.47 billion KWH. |

| Farmer Organizations - The farmer professional cooperatives strengthened ceaselessly. By the end of 2003 there had been set up 249 cooperatives in which 0.15 million farm families participated. They created sales income of RMB 1.32 billion and repaid members RMB 147.17 million. In the meantime 10 agricultural-industrial unions referring to live pig, milk, poultry, agricultural machinery, orange and so on came into being. |

| Agribusinesses - Presently there exist 9 provincial leading enterprises in Taizhou. In 2003 there appeared 47 newly developing leading agribusinesses, 117 leading agribusinesses of municipal level and 24 leading agribusinesses with output value or turnover above topping RMB 100 million. The gross output value by its leading agribusinesses at and above county level totaled RMB 11.2 billion. |

| Forestation - In 2003 its total forested area amounted to 4,113 hectares, its hillsides-closed area to facilitate forestation 2,343 hectares, its newly built-up green channel 526 kilometers, its constructed standard seawall 320 kilometers and its forest coverage 62.2%. |

| Green Produce - At the unpolluted produce base of 140 kilo-hectares its unpolluted produce coverage totaled 50%. 91 unpolluted produce bases came into being. In 2003 Taizhou had 15 produces awarded the right to use label of Chinese Unpolluted Foodstuff and 72 newly certificated as the Unpolluted Produce of Zhejiang in addition to 65 newly certificated origins of unpolluted produces in Zhejiang. |

Export-Oriented AgricultureIn - 2003 its self-management produce export amount amounted to RMB 256.00 million, 31.9% above 2002. Its total signed agricultural investment projects was 29 and its overseas investment USD 32.621 million and RMB 240.00 million. |

| Fruits - As one of the well-known leading fruit producers of China, Taizhou abounds in more than 200 varieties of Huangyan Tangerines such as Bendizao and Muyauchi Lyokan that had been awarded gold medals many times.Muyauchi Tangerine was appraised as the gold-medal product by China Circulation Assoication in 2000. Yuhuan Pomelo had been conferred as the best in China 12 times in a row. At the China Int’l Agro-Expo 2001, Taizhou had 9 brand fruits awarded the title of famed brand product. In 2003 it had 13 products awarded the gold medal of Caliber Produce of Zhejiang. Huangyan was christened the “Land of Chinese Tangerine” and “Land of Dongkui Waxberry”, Luqiao the “Land of Chinese Loquat”, Linhai the “Land of Chinese Seedless Tangerine”, Yuhuan the “Land of Chinese Pomelo”, Wenling the “Land of Chinese Cane” and Xianju the “Land of Chinese Waxberry”. |
